I has begun ...

Wearing Mom's shoes, that is. What can I say, all little girls do it, no?

Congratulations to Marylin's B/F/F Avery

Marylin is totally in love with her B/F/F Avery Jane right now. She comes to me and asks to watch a series of Avery videos daily and would sit watching and entertained all day if I let her.

Avery, her mom and dad (Allison and Jed), and dogs Murphey and Winston just welcomed the arrival of the newest little member of their family, Ainsley May. I showed Marylin pictures and aside from being thrilled to see recent pictures of Avery, Marylin said Ainsley was "cute!" :) I have to agree.

Welcome to the world little Ainsley May :)

Rest in Peace, Aunt Jane

Today Marylin lost her Great-Aunt Jane who died this morning of heart failure. We love you Aunt Jane and sure will miss you. We hope that you are at peace.

Thank you, Lauren!

Marylin seriously has the nicests friends. Today, a little package arrived with the most thoughtful gifts from Marylin's friend in MI, Lauren (and her mommy, Lara). Lara sent a puzzle and some stickers for Marylin as well as a cool CD (Lauren's favorite) for Marylin to listen to. Lara also sent us a Sean Mullins' cd to listen to while we travel.

A big huge THANK YOU! Can't wait to see you lovelies in a few weeks! :)

Some recent photos and activities

I realized this morning that I don't post nearly as many photos on Marylin's blog as I used to ... oops. So to make up for it, here are a few recent pictures of Miss Marylin (who is going to be two in 1 month!)

Doesn't Marylin look like such a big girl in this picture? It has to be her hair. She has her favorite stuffed animal in this picture - Nemo. She is seriously obsessed with the little fish.

Here we have Marylin playing in the bubbles. Thanks Eric and Lety for the bubble machine. It ROCKS!

Pinot loves bubbles too!

Sometimes the only way to get Marylin to sit on the potty is to bribe her with such things as make up, perfume, or in this case, nail polish. I didn't know chubby feet could be so darn cute!

Yesterday Marylin and I decided to make oatmeal cookies together. YUM! Thank god daddy took them to work because someone was eating far too many of them - uh hum!

Finally, I don't really attempt finger painting too often as it is so messy. But since Marylin loves it so much, we decided to pull it all out this morning and have a go. Marylin loved it, as always.

Not an elephant

Marylin and I discovered this wasp's nest sitting right outside our front door yesterday and Marylin insisted that it was an elephant. OK so no, not an elephant but I can kind of see where she may have gotten that idea (I mean, look at the size of this thing *wink*). In any case, I actually think this nest is facinating. I mean, talk about a work of art.

Marylin the geek

Of all the pictures I've taken over the last couple of weeks, this one really captures Marylin right now - a total GEEK! Swim goggles, a pink pearl necklace, and blue panties. Talk about personality!

And since I'm here, I might as well post this picture too. It's all four of us sisters in a rare moment together. Autumn, Windy, Anique and Erinn (or Auty, Win, Niki and Buggy - depending on who's doing the talking) :)

Potty Training

So, after a whole lot of encouragement from my sister Erinn and Auty, I've decided to buckle down and start potty training Marylin. Marylin has totally taken to it (thank goodness). The first couple of days we had more accidents than we had pees in the potty but the last couple of days have shown real progress. She is now mostly dry and I think she'll be fully trained by her birthday at the very latest. She's not thrilled about pooping in the potty yet though (pooped all over the floor yesterday- gross), but I think she'll get it soon. I've decided to just put the training pants on her and suffer any messes as I believe that she'll learn faster this way than with the Pull-Ups which are too close to her regular diapers.
